Community service is a major focus  for Troop 188.  Some of our projects include the "Adopt-a-Highway  program; the Autumn Festival charity fund raiser at University Presbyterian Church; and serving at the Baldwin Family Soup Kitchen in Pontiac.
Camping is at the core of our program, teaching skills and leadership.   Many of our camping activites are local, at state parks and campgrounds affiliated with Great Lakes Council.  But we also frequently travel to other locations, such as Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park, and skiing in the Grayling area (annual favorites for the Troop).  Of course, summer camp is a very special time for the Troop, at Lost Lake Scout Reservation.
One of our favorite community service projects is to lead the building of the float for Rochester Area Neighborhood House, for Rochester's annual Hometown Christmas Parade.  The boys and adults have built floats and participated in every parade since 2001.  We have been honored to receive the Grand Marshall's award for each of the last three years on behalf of Neighborhood House.
